It's a rainy morning here in the Tampa Bay area and I'm home with two sleepy dogs and a hot café con leche ready to begin my day, but before I start working, I want to share some photos from my first day of art class back in October, 2007.
The classes were held at the Art Center on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, a beautiful place for inspiration and creativity. Just look at those stairs.
The instructor was Armando Droulers, an art historian and lecturer, who I still keep in touch with on social media. He taught Beginning Drawing and had us working on Picassos from Day 1.
I wish I would've kept my drawings but all I have is a fuzzy picture of our finished pieces from the class. This was before the iPhone, when all my pictures from those days were fuzzy.
After the sessions ended, Armando suggested I sign up for the "Anatomy for Figure Drawing" classes with Darwin Leon, another Instructor at the Art Center. He knew I had a natural ability to draw faces; it's the wonky bodies I needed help with.
I decided to take his advice and it was about to change my life forever.
More to come.
